Colour management

The short answerExport your files as CMYK. Screens show colour in RGB, but offset printing needs files saved in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black), so design in CMYK or convert before you send your files.

The details

Export as CMYK

Digital screens display colour in RGB format, but offset printing needs files saved in CMYK (cyan, magenta, yellow, black) format. It's important to design or convert your files to CMYK before sending them to us.

If you send RGB files, we'll convert them, but colours may look different, so we recommend you convert and adjust before submitting.

Common questions

Should I design in RGB or CMYK?

Screens use RGB, but offset printing requires CMYK. We recommend designing in CMYK, or converting to CMYK before you send us your files. Pantone (PMS) colours can be added where exact brand colours matter (additional cost).

Why do my colours look different in print than on my screen?

Screens display colour in RGB, so colours can look different on a screen than they do in print.
