Kitting products into creative packaging is an easy, cost-effective way to stand out, and it happens to be a sweet spot for MCRL. This short piece shows one example, but the substance is in the material specification behind every box we build.
Construction is eco-friendly solid board. Solid board is a dense single-material board rather than a corrugated sandwich, which gives a cleaner printed surface, sharper edges and a more premium hand feel - and because it is a single material, it is straightforwardly recyclable. It is the same family of material as the Eska board used under our journal and planner covers.
Printing uses soy-based ink rather than phthalate or lead-based inks. There are two independent reasons to care. The first is safety: soy inks are safer for the people handling them in production and for the environment they eventually break down in, and they are the sensible default on any product a customer will handle repeatedly or that may reach children. The second is purely commercial: soy inks produce more vibrant colour than petroleum-based alternatives. That is unusual - the eco option is normally the compromise. Here it is the better-printing option as well, which is why it is our standard rather than a surcharge.
