So here is the precise version. Every planner and journal MCRL produces uses Eska board for the covers. Eska board is a 100% recycled solid board - not partially recycled, not recycled-content - manufactured from reclaimed paper. It is the structural layer under laminated, vegan leather and linen covers alike, so choosing an attractive cover material does not mean giving up the recycled substrate underneath it.

Alongside the board, interior printing uses soy-based inks rather than petroleum-based, phthalate or lead-based inks. Soy inks are safer for people and the environment, and as a bonus they lay down more vibrant colour. Papers are eco-friendly stocks, with FSC-certified and tree-free options available on request. None of these are premium upgrades sitting behind a surcharge - they are the standard specification, which means a brand building a sustainability page can make those claims about a normal MCRL order without having to negotiate for them.
