Metal Corners

Metal corners are small metal fittings crimped over the corners of a hardcover planner or journal. This clip runs through eleven of MCRL’s most popular styles, close up, because the differences between them are subtle in a catalogue and obvious in the hand.

The functional case is straightforward. Corners are the first part of any cover to fail - they take the impact every time a book is dropped, pushed into a bag or slid across a desk, and once a corner is crushed or delaminated the whole product looks worn regardless of how well the rest has held up. A metal corner takes that abuse instead of the board.

The aesthetic case is what usually sells it. Metal corners read as craftsmanship, particularly against linen, vegan leather and soft-touch covers, and they let you carry a metallic through the design that matches your foil stamping, gilding, Wire-O binding or ribbon. Styles range from plain rounded caps to decorative filigree patterns, so the same feature can read as minimal and modern or ornate and traditional depending on which you choose. For a premium planner intended to survive a full year of daily handling, it’s one of the more sensible add-ons available.
