Custom tabs are one of the least expensive ways to organise content in a spiral or Wire-O printed journal or planner, and one of the most visible. They also do something subtler: they signal that the book has a structure worth navigating.
MCRL’s coaching clients use tabs three ways. First, to communicate philosophy and company vision - the tab edge is prime real estate that’s visible even when the book is closed. Second, to guide a coaching methodology, so each stage of a programme has its own section a client can jump to. Third, to break out monthly goals and to-dos, which is the conventional planner use and still the most common.
On specification: tabs are gloss laminated for durability, and can be cut into different shapes and sizes, with 9pt, 10pt and 12pt the most common weights. They can be printed full colour including custom PMS colours on both the tab and the text, so brand colours carry through exactly. You can also add a pocket to a tab sheet - useful for loose inserts, worksheets, cards or anything a client needs to keep with the section it belongs to.
